The Coromandel Peninsula lies east of Auckland and just one and a half hours easy driving from that city.

The area includes some of the most scenic countryside and beaches in New Zeland.  Along the western coastline one can enjoy the meandering coastal road, right on the edge of the beautiful Hauraki Gulf and its wonderful fishing, beginning in Thames, through the little coastal community of Te Puru, and on to Coromandel Town.
